Day 74 - Daily Artwork

Really pushed myself with today's piece! Chose an impactful (but more complicated than I realised) reference photo. And it pushed me, oh, so much more than I expected!

I wanted to keep it somewhat painterly, but not lose the details. It seems to have a horror movie like atmosphere - the fault of the brooding trees I think!

I learnt a few things painting this! 1) cars are quite hard to paint, but easy to render in a more abstract way. 2) a good technique for blending gouache out to make it more misty. 3) sometimes the simple, impactful reference images are the hardest to translate in a meaningful way!

Overall quite pleased with the result of this piece!
